During my 29-year career at CIMB (1989-2018), I was frequently acknowledged as one of Malaysia’s top banking executives and was a strong advocate of ASEAN economic integration. In recent years I have been a proponent of a National Reset, starting with the setting up of the Better Malaysia Assembly.
I survived prostate cancer and afterwards I joined the board of the Urological Cancer Trust Fund of Universiti Malaya which aims to substantially reduce late discovery of the disease among Malaysians.
I am currently the Chairman and Founding Partner of Ikhlas Capital, Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC) Malaysia Chapter, Chairman of the Malaysia-Indonesia Business Council (MIBC) and Non-Executive Chairman of PLS Plantations. And I recently wrote my book – “What’s in a name.”
What’s in a Name takes readers to the often troubled centre of Malaysian politics and business over the last fifty years.
